Meet Dr. Karen L. Mapp

Karen L. Mapp, Ed.D., is a professor of practice at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. She is one of the visionaries behind the Dual Capacity-Building Framework for Family-School Partnerships and is the author and coauthor of several books on family engagement and its role in student achievement.

The Dr. Karen L. Mapp Workshop Series

Build your team’s family engagement capacity with a comprehensive 3-day workshop series created in partnership with Dr. Karen L. Mapp of the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

Session 1: Reframing Family Engagement

This session provides foundational family engagement training to district and school teams. We’ll introduce the research and practices that lead to effective family engagement.

Session 2: Engaging Families in Learning Throughout the Year

This session will help your school team design and implement a yearlong plan for family engagement by evaluating your recent outreach initiatives and determining the next steps to best serve your students.

Session 3: Redesigning Family Engagement Events

This session will introduce you to the Dual-Capacity Framework through a series of expert-guided interactive exercises. We’ll explore how to integrate the framework’s five process conditions and effective practices into any family engagement event.
