Hello! My name is Daira and I am a bilingual paraprofessional helping the emerging bilingual students from Kindergarten to 5th grade at Bayou Vista Elementary. I’m raising funds to start my classroom library and also to give each of my students at least two books for them to keep. I believe that books ignite the love for reading and the more we read the better we become. I want all my students to be good readers and love reading and become leaders as they get older and wiser. Hi there, I lam launching this campaign to get more books in my students’ hands by expanding our classroom library. One of the biggest joys of teaching is seeing a student fall in love with a book. But it’s not always easy to get the right book in the hands of the right reader. Some of my students are interested in books about animals, while others love sports or history. Not only are my students interested in different things, but they also read at different levels! I can only be the teacher I want to be if I can help my students become better readers. The most effective way to do this is to fill my classroom library with a diverse collection of books across a variety of levels. Hello! My name is Lisa and I teach Pre-k. I’m raising funds to give each of my 18 students at least one or two books monthly. I hope that these books will be a way of families to connect and share time together. While my students are just starting their school journey, this is also a great time when they are able to explore so many books. This year I would like for every student in our classroom to receive a free book to take home each month. Hi there, I’m Ms. Aarika and I teach Kindergarten at Arizona Autism Charter School. I will be entering my 8th year of teaching, although this will be my 2nd year teaching little learners. I launched this campaign to get more books in my students’ hands that meet their diverse needs and interests! One of the greatest rewards, is witnessing the excitement for reading! With these books, our class will explore new topics and old ones, while identifying their interests and activating prior knowledge. Early literacy is so vital for student success in their academic journey and as they become independent citizens of society. In Kindergarten, the little learners have just begun. It is my duty and responsibility to cultivate their love and confidence for reading at this primal stage. My goal with this campaign is to be able to purchase every student in my first grade class, a new book every month of the school year. When doing so, they are being exposed to different kinds of texts. As a teacher, it is my responsibility and my goal to help children find their love for reading and learning. When this is done authentically, and when they are given opportunities like this, they can then share their love for reading with the next person. When they take home a new book every month, it builds their at home library and allows a time to bond with their families over a good book.
