Hi Everyone! We are Ms. Madison and Ms. Lori, the lead teachers at Marion Daycare. Exploring books is a critical part in child development. We want to spark an interest in reading by providing our classroom children with a variety of books to explore. Hi there, I lam launching this campaign to get more books in my students’ hands by expanding our classroom library. One of the biggest joys of teaching is seeing a student fall in love with a book. But it’s not always easy to get the right book in the hands of the right reader. Some of my students are interested in books about animals, while others love sports or history. Not only are my students interested in different things, but they also read at different levels! I can only be the teacher I want to be if I can help my students become better readers. The most effective way to do this is to fill my classroom library with a diverse collection of books across a variety of levels. I am raising money to buy each of my 4th-grade students two books every month for the remainder of the school year. Many students do not have access to books at home, and I want to ensure that every child has the opportunity to experience the joy of reading beyond the classroom. By providing them with their own books to keep, I hope to inspire a lifelong love of learning and empower them with knowledge that will support their future success. This year I would like for every student in our classroom to receive a free book to take home each month. By raising funds through Scholastic, we can purchase a diverse selection of engaging and age-appropriate books. This initiative not only fosters a love of reading but also supports literacy development, allowing students to build their personal libraries and share the joy of reading with their families.

I work in a school with over 100 Spanish-speaking students, many of whom are learning English while maintaining their Spanish literacy. Some of my students read fluently in both languages, while others are just beginning their journey in English. In my Newcomers classes, many students primarily read in Spanish, making access to books in their native language essential. Research shows that maintaining literacy in a student's first language while learning a new one strengthens both language skills, enhances cognitive flexibility, and improves overall academic achievement. While our libraries offer some books in other languages, the selection is limited. My goal is to raise enough funds to send each of my Newcomer students home with at least two Spanish books this summer. By contributing to this initiative, you’re not just providing books—you’re supporting language development, fostering a love for reading, and helping students connect with their cultural identity. My goal with this campaign is to be able to purchase every student in my first grade class, a new book every month of the school year. When doing so, they are being exposed to different kinds of texts. As a teacher, it is my responsibility and my goal to help children find their love for reading and learning. When this is done authentically, and when they are given opportunities like this, they can then share their love for reading with the next person. When they take home a new book every month, it builds their at home library and allows a time to bond with their families over a good book.
