Hear From Teachers Who’ve Raised Funds With ClassroomsCount™

“My campaign enabled me to provide options and resources to many students who might not have opportunities to read or buy books of their own. My students love books and I want to encourage reading and provide resources for them.”

– Amir L., ClassroomsCount™ teacher in Chicago, IL

“My students have been so excited and so thankful. When they see that red and white Scholastic box sitting on my reading table, they cannot wait for me to open it so we can ‘oooh and ahhh’ over the titles. I always tell them who contributed funds and what my relationship is with that person to help my students have a more personal connection.”

– Melissa C., ClassroomsCount™ teacher in Baytown, TX

“With the success of my campaign this year, I am now raising funds for all of the kindergarten classes in my school. My students get so excited to get their books and I hype up the day we get them — so I'm excited as well! I even bought a self-inking stamp for the back of the books. It says, "This book is from Mrs. B! I love you!"

– Brandi B., ClassroomsCount™ teacher in Virginia Beach, VA

For the Love of Books

Teacher: Alahna N.

Hello! I am starting a Scholastic campaign to raise money to add more books to my classroom library. Many students borrow books from me for independent reading throughout the year, and I would like to increase my selection. I will try to broaden the range of genres and include student requests as well. I hope you can help me!

Knowledge is Power!

Teacher:  William H.

This is my 13th year in the classroom and 10th year teaching 5th grade! I have learned during this time that there are few things more important than creating an interesting and varied reading environment. Giving students as many options as possible when it comes to book choice is vital to stimulating curiosity and instilling a love for the activity. This money will allow me to add to the thousands of books that I already provide for my students and provide current and interesting literature. Thank you for your time and for helping my classroom.

Help me inspire the JOY of reading to my students!

Teacher: Kelsey K.

Hello! My name is Kelsey Kalamar, and I’m a 2nd grade teacher at Freemansburg Elementary School in the Bethlehem Area School District. I’m raising funds to provide each of my students with at least one brand-new book every month — books they can truly call their own. My goal is to spark a love of reading by helping students begin building their very own personal libraries at home. There’s something magical about owning a book — turning the pages, writing your name inside the cover, and revisiting your favorite parts again and again. By supporting this campaign, you’ll become one of our cherished Classroom Book Fairies, helping bring joy, excitement, and opportunity to young readers. Each month, I’ll share updates and photos so you can see the smiles and celebrations that come with every unboxing. To make your gift even more special, I’ll place a custom label inside each book noting the year and your name — a lasting reminder of your generosity. Thank you so much for considering a donation. Your kindness will help my students grow, imagine, and thrive. “A book is a gift you can open again and again.” – Garrison Keillor

Open a Book, Open a Future

Teacher: Samantha B.

Hi Everyone! As my new school year is beginning, things look a little different! I am now a teacher in the largest school district in Kansas. As a district, we educate 11% of the student population in the entire state. This means that as a district, we house approximately 47,000 students across 88 schools. My current role as a fourth grade teacher is within an elementary school that is considered a title 1 school, where 90% of our student population is from poverty. Why are all of these numbers important? They include our future leaders. As an educator, I am responsible for preparing these students to become the best citizens and members of their community. As we all know, life works best with teamwork, so I am here to ask for help! Reading abilities in our district are lower than they should be, and I think a big part of that is the lack of access to books for these students. I am hoping to have some people who would like to become a "book fairy" for my students this year. Scholastic has books as low as $2 and my goal is to put a new book into each one of my students hands each month. This would mean that throughout the year, they'd have access to 9 books to take home. I currently have 16 students. I am looking for 16 people who would like to donate $18.00 in order to buy a book for each one of my students for the 9 months of the school year! I've had incredible support in the past with this and I'm eternally grateful for each and every one of you. Please know that you are part of the reason a student might have grown a passion for reading because they had access to a book to bring home that they normally might not have. Scholastic has made it easy this year as you can donate directly toward my scholastic account to buy books! If you made it this far, I thank you! Please help me in trying to foster a love of reading into all of my students this year! Love always, Ms. Bedore

Become A Fourth Grade Book Fairy!

Teacher:  Alysson S.

Hello! My name is Alysson, and I am a fourth grade teacher. I’m raising funds to give my students at least one book for each marking period of the school year. This will help them build their own home libraries. Many families at my school do not have the financial means to purchase books, so I want to make sure my students have their own books to read and share at home! By becoming a Book Fairy, you can help me send books home with students, and maybe even grow our own classroom library! Scholastic books can cost as little as $3.00, so just $10 can provide one child with three new books to add to their own library! Will you become a Book Fairy for my students? Thank you so much for your support!

Help Me Find Diverse Books for My Mosaic of Students

Teacher:  Sarah D.

I work in a Title I school in Albuquerque, NM, where every day I walk into my classroom with a single mission: to ignite a lifelong love of reading in my students. My deepest passion is introducing them to diverse novels and powerful voices; stories that reflect who they are, challenge how they see the world, and remind them that their own voices matter too. I believe that when a student discovers a book that speaks to their heart, something shifts. Reading becomes more than an assignment. It becomes a lifeline, a mirror, and a doorway. By helping each student connect with authors and stories that inspire them, I am not just encouraging them to keep turning pages. I am giving them the courage to keep dreaming, questioning, and growing far beyond the walls of my classroom.

We Love to Read!

Teacher: Tracy D.

With your help, my 5th graders will grow their love of reading! I aim to keep my classroom library stocked with new, high-interest books, provide books for my students to keep, and invest in books that celebrate the diversity in my classroom. Thank you for supporting my classroom and being a partner in putting books into the hands of my amazing students! Any and all donations are greatly appreciated and well-used!

The Classroom Book Fairy

Teacher: Alisha T.

Hi there, I’m Mrs. Thompson, and I teach 4th grade at Lakeside Elementary. I launched this campaign to get more books in my students’ hands by expanding our classroom library. One of the biggest joys of teaching is seeing a student fall in love with a book. But it’s not always easy to get the right book in the hands of the right reader. Some of my students are interested in books about animals, while others are passionate about sports or history. Not only are my students interested in different things, but they also read at different levels! I can only be the teacher I want to be if I can help my students become better readers. The most effective way to achieve this is to fill my classroom library with a diverse collection of books at various reading levels. Your support will help me raise $500 to fill our classroom library with new books. Growing lifelong readers is the goal of my class—and your contribution will help do just that! Thank you, Mrs. Thompson
