Sherri Amos
Sherri Amos is a dedicated 4th grade teacher at Copeland Elementary School in Augusta, Georgia, with eight years of experience teaching 1st through 4th grades. She builds strong connections with students and families, helping them overcome academic fears, and fostering a love of learning. Sherri teaches her students to turn mistakes into opportunities for growth. She actively seeks professional development opportunities to provide high quality education to her students and is actively involved at Copeland, serving as a mentor teacher, 4th grade team lead, and co-president of the PTO. This year, she launched the Copeland Elementary School Pageant for boys and girls, and participated in the Georgia School Leadership Academy Teacher Leader Cohort. She is pursuing a Specialist Degree in Teacher Leadership at Valdosta State University and recently received an endorsement in Teaching and Coaching.
Anna Boyd
Anna Boyd is a passionate English Language Arts educator dedicated to equitable literature education and cultivating meaningful student relationships. With seven years of experience teaching in Alabama and South Carolina, she has taught grades 5 through 7 and now teaches 6th and 8th grades at Brewer Middle School in Greenwood, South Carolina. Anna serves as the sponsor for the Beta Club and the Academic Challenge Team, fostering student engagement and leadership. As a Ford’s Theater Oratory Fellow, which has allowed her to incorporate elements of oratory into her ELA curriculum, she enriches her students' learning experiences. Recently, Anna earned a Master’s degree in Applied Learning and Instruction with a concentration in Literacy from the University of South Carolina and holds endorsements in Gifted and Talented Education, Literacy Teacher, and Literacy Coach.
Scott Brewer
With 19 years of experience as a Pennsylvania educator, Scott has worked with students and teachers across various K-8 settings. He has taught grades 2, 3, 4, and 6, and currently teaches 6th grade ELA at Eagle View Middle School in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. Scott aims to create engaging learning experiences in an environment of mutual respect, thoughtful discourse, and humor. Passionate about literacy and learning, he is pursuing a doctoral program in curriculum and instruction. In 2018, Scott was honored to serve as a Scholastic National Teacher Advisor.
Andrea Childes
With 13 years of experience as a public educator in St. Louis, Missouri, Andrea has had the privilege of teaching a diverse range of students from kindergarten to 6th grade. Currently a 5th-grade teacher in the Parkway School District, Andrea inspires a love for reading by sharing books and her own passion for literature with her students. She fosters a warm, supportive classroom environment where students develop a love of learning. Andrea holds a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, a Master's degree in special reading, and an Elementary Librarian certification.
Hope Clinton
In her three years as an Arizona educator, Hope Clinton has worked closely with students and teachers as a middle school language arts teacher. She has taught language arts, art, reading intervention, and now teaches 8th grade in Arizona. Hope creates an engaging, culturally relevant curriculum tailored to her students’ needs by building strong relationships. Beyond her Master’s degree in Secondary Education from the University of Arizona, she furthers her professional knowledge by attending professional development opportunities around the country.
Alexandra Felix
Alexandra Felix is an early childhood educator in New York City, specializing in supporting English Language Learners. Ten years ago, she began her teaching journey through the New York City Teaching Fellows program and holds a Master’s in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) from Hunter College. Now in her fourth year at P.S. 122 The Mamie Fay School in Astoria, Queens, Alexandra continues to foster a sense of community and inclusion in the classroom. She encourages her students to speak openly and to think critically about the world around them. By embracing diversity and implementing culturally responsive teaching practices, Alexandra strives to make her classroom an example of what a community could be.
Bridget Jordan
Bridget Jordan is an ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) teacher at Baltimore Highlands Elementary in Baltimore County, Maryland, working with 1st and 4th graders, many of whom are newcomers from Central America and Mexico. Since earning her Master’s in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County in 2017, she has created an inclusive and supportive learning environment. In 2023, she earned her National Board Certification. Outside of teaching, she mentors new ESOL teachers, writes district curriculum, and facilitates New Educator Orientation. Recently, Bridget participated in the Fulbright-Hays Program in Peru, enhancing her Spanish proficiency to better support her students and their families.
Katie Kim
In her third year of teaching, Katie Kim has worked with diverse K-8 students and educators. Having served as both an Intervention Specialist and classroom teacher, she now teaches 5th grade in the Los Angeles Unified School District. She is also a Local School Leadership Council (LSLC) teacher representative and Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) Committee member. Katie aims to create engaging learning experiences that foster creativity, critical thinking, and social-emotional growth. As a HeidiSongs Content Creator, she also creates engaging digital content specializing in English Language Arts (ELA) and Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) for young learners. Katie holds a B.A. in Communication Studies from UCLA and an M.Ed. in Learning and Technology from Azusa Pacific University.
Paul King
For the past decade, Paul has taught in Taiwan, Costa Rica, and Colorado, driven by a single goal: to inspire a love of learning. As a 6th-grade social studies teacher, he integrates Scholastic magazines to enhance literacy instruction and content knowledge. In addition to teaching, Paul leads the theater program and chess club at Global Village Academy North, a bilingual K-8 school north of Denver. In all his roles, he is dedicated to building confidence, curiosity, and real-world skills through engaging and meaningful learning experiences.
Morgan Meaux Mercado
For 8 years, Morgan Mercado has made a lifelong impact on elementary students in southern Louisiana and beyond. Specializing in English Language Arts, Morgan has taught 4th-grade gifted students and now teaches 3rd graders at Dr. Raphael A. Baranco Elementary school in the district’s new ACE model program, which was designed to enhance academic performance and overall campus excellence. She was named “United Way Elementary Teacher of the Year” in 2022 and one of the“Top 11 Women Making A Difference In Acadiana”in 2023. Morgan co-founded Teach Out Loud, an educator-designed and led professional development conference, mentors new teachers, and shares ideas globally through her social media platform @DoubleDutyTeachers.
Keke Powell
With a decade of experience, Keke Powell has taught students in Hawaii and Texas across grades 2 through 5. Currently, she teaches second grade at Sunfield Elementary School in Buda, Texas, where she fosters creativity, curiosity, and kindness in her classroom. Keke was honored with the Alliant Group Spark Award for Outstanding Elementary Science Teacher, recognized as an H-E-B in Excellence in Education Rising Star Finalist, and received the 2024 Literacy Fellowship Impact Award from The Leaders Readers Network.
Milagros Sanchez-Cohen
With 13 years of experience as an educator in Florida, Milagros Sanchez-Cohen has worked with diverse student populations, including those with exceptionalities at several Title 1 schools. Currently, Milagros teaches Kindergarten at Horeb Christian School, a low-income Title 1 private school in Hialeah. Her goal is to create a love of learning where creativity, collaboration, and hands-on experiences help students ignite and find their passions. She recently earned a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, with a specialization in Curriculum Development.

We value your experience and your interest in working with Scholastic! Applicants not selected for the 2024–2025 Scholastic Teacher Fellows Cohort will be automatically eligible for the Scholastic Innovation Lab teacher innovator corps.
Application and Selection Overview
The Scholastic Teacher Fellows application and selection process is organized into three phases to identify the most qualified and diverse group of candidates across the U.S. Though we receive many applications, we encourage all qualified teachers to apply.
Applicants respond to multiple choice and short essay questions about their professional experiences, including current placement, approach to teaching, understanding of student learning, and the innovative classroom practices they use. Responses are evaluated by a cross-disciplinary team at Scholastic along with the current Teacher Fellows Cohort using a weighted rubric:

Twenty-five candidates with the top scores from Phase 1 are identified to achieve as diverse a group as possible by geography, school type, student population, grade level, and teaching experience.
Small-group interviews are conducted with the 25 finalists. The interview is based on a design-thinking task that involves teamwork to solve a current challenge in education. The following weighted rubric identifies 12 candidates who will best contribute to the collaborative work designed by Teacher Fellows.
